What We Do Post-Op

  • Surgeon Handover: We receive post-op instructions and documentation directly from your surgical team.
  • Allied Health Referrals: Timely referrals to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation specialists.
  • Progress Monitoring: We track your pain, mobility, wound healing, and function over the coming weeks.
  • Certificate Management: Medical certificates, employer updates, and clearance forms – all handled by us.
  • Return-to-Work Support: We assess your readiness and communicate clearly with employers, insurers, and your care team.

Understanding the Post-Operative Period

Recovery from orthopaedic procedures varies depending on the surgery and your health. Here's a general guide:

Week 1

Pain and swelling are expected. Focus on rest, icing, and gentle movement.

Weeks 2–4

Wound healing progresses. Begin physiotherapy and increase mobility.

Weeks 4–8

Strengthening and functional training. Gradual return to daily activities.

Weeks 8–12

Clearance for return to sport or work depending on progress and demands.

Note: Your recovery timeline may vary. We'll tailor your plan to your goals and surgical outcome.

General Advice for Recovery

  • Keep your wound clean and dry. Notify us of any discharge or redness.
  • Take pain relief as prescribed. Don't wait until you're in severe discomfort.
  • Attend all scheduled physiotherapy and review appointments.
  • Keep moving — gentle walking helps prevent complications like clots.
  • Ask questions — if you're unsure, we're here to guide you.
